Our founder, Whit Hughes, began our business in October 1958 as a one-man office at 5204 West Division Street in Chicago. That fall, with the introduction of the Frigidaire coin-op washer, he developed his first laundry store around a very basic rule: build a high quality attractive store, follow-up with your customer, and business will grow through referrals and repeat business. With his commitment to quality, our company earned a reputation unequaled in the industry for designing functionally attractive laundry facilities. Such innovation along with our strong attention to service has helped us to retain a family of loyal satisfied customers.
The tradition of quality and service established in the Company’s early days has been maintained by our Company President, Gordon S. Hughes. It is through our employee’s character and professionalism that Hughes Enterprises continues to grow.
Today Hughes Enterprises, Inc., HEI, consists of five divisions: Custom Appliances, Custom Carpet, Family Pride Laundry, The Blue Kangaroo, and Parts Distributors.

Custom Appliances: Wholesale distributor servicing the apartment managements along with the single & multi family home builder market.
Custom Carpet: Full service floor covering wholesaler servicing the apartment and commercial property managements along with the single & multi family home builder market.
Family Pride Laundry: Servicing laundry faculties through out greater Chicago area.
The Blue Kangaroo: Coin-op laundry facilities throughout greater Chicago and Wisconsin area.
Parts Distributors: Parts distributor of commercial laundry equipments.
